Italian tannery
Italian tannery
Ausonia tannery was founded in 1946 by Marino Donati, taking up a family tradition. Over the years, the Italian tannery has become an international benchmark thanks to experience, research and innovation.
In the early years production was mainly sole leather and cowhide. These were the post-war years; the hides were worked by hand with long baths in the pits, both for preparation and tanning: it took six to eight months to obtain a good material. Over time new machinery and new, far more refined tanning solutions were introduced. All this helped streamline the production process, and today we can make a good product in four to six weeks. As business grew, the facility increased its production capacity and surface area, equipping itself with ever more advanced technology. Today Ausonia, with over 18,000 m² of facilities, can produce up to 70,000 m² of leather per month.
